If im not allowed to get a dog then would a cat be better?

I really want a dog but my parents don’t really want to because of financial reasons. I already have 2 cats, instead of getting a dog would rescuing a cat from a centre be a better idea. My cats are easy going and i dont think they would mind. I really love animals and would like another one.

introducing a 2 year old cat to a 4 month puppy?

How do i introduce a puppy into the lives of my two cats and not risk them leaving?

About a year ago we were given a rescue dog, okay it was a adult spaniel but we tried everything and my cats would not come home. After three days I couldnt bear thinking of them like thisit just not fair on them as they here first. So maybe a puppy is a better option but how we gonna know. Anybody had similar situation?
