The fact that your asking for a free dog concerns me. Can you afford the expense involved with dog ownership?

You are not going to get a free puppy from anywhere. Why would anyone give away a well bred (or even a badly bred) OES puppy?
Well bred puppies cost hundreds of pounds to breed, rear, feed and socialise, their parents would have been hip scored, possibly elbow scored and eye tested - that costs around £300.00.
OES rescue may not charge for their dogs but they do expect a donation and you would have to satisfy them that you have the experience of dealing with a very large, very intelligent breed.
Not all OES are good with children (or adults), especially if they have been abused as youngsters so you would need to be very careful about where you acquired one from.

If you can find a nice mellow adult rescue dog, I'd definately go with the rescue! It's much easier to train an adult than a puppy, especially when you've got children to look after as well. It may also save their toys from being chewed up. :)

Dogs are not cheap. There's toys, food, insurence, medical bills, ext. Paying $50 to $150 for a healthy dog is the least of your finacial worries. If you can't afford to keep the dog healthy and happy because you have a low income, I sudgest a hamster or fish. MAYBE a cat.

You could try going to a local RSPCA rescue centre - they have lots of pets there which are free to a good home

You should be worried about health of the pup or dog not the price. If you are looking to rescue one on the web and look up rescue shelters for old english sheepdogs.

Google Old English Sheepdog Rescue
then look at the sweet critters....
They are real careful in matching people to their critters...You end up getting a background check like you would for adopting a child...

Being close to the beach and a park sounds wonderful..
the dog would have to be watched carefully because kids that young can be rough on an un supervised dog....

Have fun in your search....
