I don’t mean the rescue any disrespect. The person they’ve hired to do the website may have got it wrong. It sure does look like a pure bred G.Schnauzer to me.

Your link did not show a picture.
As the picture says, it’s a Patterdale Terrier.
I have a schnauzer and I would have definately said schnauzer. Maybe a cross, you see the markins round the neck, not schnauzer, and it is very small xx
xx
looks very cute xx
Patterdales are quite small, all black and don’t have a beard where as Giant Schnauzers are big, grey and have a beardy bit round their mouth.
OK I just looked at the picture and it’s definitely a Patterdale.
Its a Patterdale. Schauzers usuallay have a different color. and the picture says Patterdale also
Giant Schnauzer.
I would say a Giant Schnauzer. It is a big dog, and the Patterdale is a small dog. Maybe a GS cross…
looks like a schnauzer…maybe crossed with something else….
Looks like a mix of some sort. Doesn’t really look exactly like either one.
(Btw to see the picture guys click on Dogs Needing Homes on the left of the screen, the site is in frames and doesn’t show the URL for the page.)
the dogs are under *’Dogs needing Homes (with pics)*
on the left margin…
and the M dog in that photo has nothing to be measured against for scale! plus he is already labeled as a Patterdale and is ID’d as 6-YO…
can-t U take the rescue-s word for the breed ID?
i am willing to accept their statement as fact…
That does not look like a Patterdale. It looks like a Giant Schnauzer.
Patterdales are usually about the size of a large Jack Russell, but apart from that they vary a lot in how they look. Mine has a very smooth coat, but they come wiry and in many colours. The picture looks like it could be a scruffy looking wiry Patterdale with a bit of a beardie.
I can see how the face looks Schnauzer like but that may just be the angle of the photo.
A Giant Schnauzer is massive, as the name suggests, so they would have to be very lacking in dog knowledge to get one mixed up with a Patterdale!! There is nothing in the photo to give perspective on that dog’s size.
Here is another pic of a bearded Patterdale but from the front angle:
I like the look of a giant schnauzer. They are so cute.
Hi there, yes he is a patterdale , I have the smooth haired variety – one of 14years and one of 13 months! , although this chap pictured certainly seems larger than those Ive seen. The wired dogs can resemble the schnauz. Hope that helps, Claire xx
