What is the best way to get into a job in animal care?

animal rescue

I currently work full time and cannot afford to go to college? I love animals and would love to work in either an animal rescue or veterinary centre. Any advice or recommendations would be awesome!

I am currently TRYING to get into animal care also. They way the economy is right now, it has been hard. I also work full time and couldn’t go to an actual college so I took up an online course through the US Career Institute. It gives you up to one year to complete and cost about $800. They send you all the stuff through the mail. I would have rather just gotten a job with animals rather than taking a class, but nobody would hire me. So by taking the Veterinary Assistant course, I can go pretty much anywhere in the animal field. It teaches you a little on everything. You may be able to walk in to an animal rescue/humane society and get a job there with no schooling. I won’t because I will take some dogs home and my husband would shoot me! LOL. Well I wish you the best of luck!

Just keep applying. Loads of people want to get in this field so it can take time. Maybe offer to volunteer first. Most rescue centres welcome volunteers as don’t make much money. Be prepared for low wages though when you do get a job!
