What is the best or worst thing that you have ever bought?

puppy rescue
minkyminsker asked:

I have just got a rottweiler puppy from a rescue centre and she will not house train. I have tried everything everyone has advised me to do but to no avail (newspapers, *** pads etc). She has weed on the kitchen floor so many times I have had to have the ceramic tiles up (I did this myself, by the way) and new ones laid. The best thing I have bought is a big rubber scuff mat that is put in the boot of a Land Rover to avoid scuffs and scratches and it has protected my new tiles and hopefully the dog will grow out of ****** on the floor.

The best thing I bought was my cocker spaniel puppy!. The best thing bought for me was my laptop – haven’t put the thing down since I got it for christmas!.

Keep trying with your pup – he will get the hang of it. Make sure you put him out in the garden for a wee or poo every half an hour – on a lead. Tell him to hurry up – as soon as he does something, lots of praise and excitment and of course a treat (chocolate button). NEVER tell him off for accidents – it will confuse him. Don’t give up on him – my dog has only just calmed down and he is nearly three – he has driven me literally to tears sometimes – jumping up, nipping etc – flooded my kitchen once by chewing through the water pipe to the dishwasher!

You should chan her up outside or put her in a pin someplaceand put a box in the pin with cat litter in the box.

Dogs that grow up in kennels have never had to hang on, so be patient with housetraining. The trick is to keep taking her to a spot that you DO want her to use and reward her for using it! Just put her on the lead and take her there every hour, wait patiently, she’ll have to go at some point. Then make a fuss of her. It will take less than 2 weeks for her to get the idea, and longer for her to develop bladder control. By the time she’s 6 months old you should be able to leave her for about 4 hours between bathroom visits.

My best buy was my old dog. And my worst was a wicker dog basket that harboured fleas and was chewed to bits by my pup when teething, we had bits of wicker stuck in our socks and carpet for months.

If she was in a centre and probably not trained by her owners it is going to take a long time and patience but persevere and I’m sure you will have a great dog.You could always take her to training classes.Don’t get angry at her or this will make her worse.Good luck.

the best thing i brought was a big dog cage my staffie girl kept ****** pooing on the kitchen floor, never done it in the day just at night, even when she had pups she would do it , i kept a pup found although she was houe trained she would sometimes copy her mum, so i decided to buy a dog cage i put them in at night and they havent messed since that was a yar ago, i forgot to shut it 1 night come downstairs to loads of mess. see they wont mess where they got to sleep.

You need to crate train. This works with nearly all dogs and the earlier you do it, the better. I won’t write the whole thing here, just put crate training dog into a search engine. She’ll get it- but not overnight.

Best thing, Badger, my Jack Russel pup, got him last year at 7 weeks old, he has never messed in the house, but it take a while to get the water works sorted out.
Worst thing, a Quarter Horse mare who I fell in love with, and ignored every bodies advice and bought. I eventually managed to get her returned to the seller because of her stable vices, and found out through the network that this poor mare had been sold and returned several times before, but I still feel bad about that one.

Good luck with the Rottie, we also have a rescue dog who peed in the house for what seemed like forever, we eventually crate trained him, and he is fine on free range now.
