If you do not want puppies you can do it NOW!!!

  • Simple Si, is right of course but on a more precise note, I would say as soon as she has had her first season, which presumably she has. So go for it.

best to have it done while its still alive and definatly before it dies

its best as puppies but now is great.

    4 – 6 mos is generally ideal.
You’d like to get her spayed before she goes in to heat, but that isn’t really an option.
I’d contact your vet about the time frame after heats… most vets like 2 weeks after the last heat, but some are fine preforming the procedure sooner.

About a week after she’s done which would translate to a month from now.

when she or he is a puppy but.. if you do want puppies dont get spayed. You can spay your dog at all ages

The earlier you do it the cheaper it can be as some vets charge by the Weight as the heavier they are the more meds are needed.
    Sorry did not read correctly:
You need to wait at least a month if not two months to be sure her blood consistancy is back to normal. It could be dangerous to preform sooner as the blood is unable to clot due to the thinning of the blood from the season.

in between seasons as soon as possible

As soon as possible. Call the vet and set up an appointment. Some vets will do spays during heat. They did it with one of my dogs.

You should spay her ASAP, as the best time to spay a female dog is before her first heat. Not only is it messy, but having the first heat cycle makes your dog much more susceptible to various reproductive system cancers.

Around 4-6 months is the best time. I would not have waited as long as you have but get it done ASAP. Cuts down on the chances of ****** tumors or cancer.

If she’s already in season, you will need to get her done in roughly 3 months time (midway between her seasons). Meantime you will need to confine her – and go with her into the garden (leash). Remember she will be as keen to mate, as any roaming dog is to oblige!

Don’t do it while she is in season as this can cause all manner of problems, the best time is halfway between seasons so wait 3 months, phone your vet after about 2 months then book her in.

    now a good time

As soon as possible. Check with your own vet, but i was told by mine before her first season which is usually around 7 months, but as this isn’t an option, when her current season ends and while she’s still young. It would probably be harder on her the older she gets. Good luck !

You are best phoning your vet practice and explaining the situation, and asking them how long after a heat they would operate. Some practices leave it a couple of weeks, others will wait a few months.

The reason we don’t like doing it during the season is because when the dog is in heat, the reproductive tissues become engorged with blood and are very friable. The tissues are very easily torn and the excess blood supply presents an increased risk during the surgery. It’s nothing to do with the clotting properties of the blood, just that there’s more of it where we don’t want it!
