im not sure 100% but i would think you can, really it is like a business exept you wont be handling any cash as it is for charity. i would also imagine that you need qualified staff and the facilites would have to be approved. also you would need a license.
    hope this helped

I am not sure how one goes about writing a grant a friend of mine has written a few grants and I want to learn how to do that also so I am starring this site of yours an excellent question that I would love to do also!!

p.s. perhaps speak with a local veterinarian about doing this or perhaps search on Cat Fancy it’s a magazine for cat owners they might have some suggestions.

Best of luck and best wishes to you,

i dont think so, it’s really up to the person to provide the care for animals that they are going to rescue or rehome.

but you could get discount on bulk food buys from pet stores or online wholesalers.
is the cheapest place i have found.

You might go to the Best Friends website (bestfriends.org). That is the largest animal sanctuary in the US. It’s in Kenab, Utah.

They have seminars for people who want to establish animal sanctuaries so they might be a place to ask questions about it.

Not sure if funding or grants would be available. To be a registered charity you usually need a committee/directors, a registered address and auditable accounts. Have you considered speaking with your local Cats Protection branch for their advice?

The Messy Beast web site has a great article with lots of information and advice about setting up your own cat shelter which you might find helpful.

    Good luck.

I live not far from that best friends animal sanctuary in Utah. They are really great. I’ve seen them on TV and they are amazing at how well they help the animals. Dogs, Cats, Birds, everything! I’m going to have to visit some day. The Cat and his siblings were all rescues and he would like to see more sanctuaries out their for non-adoptable pets. Let us know if you can do this. The Cat would like to know as well.
